Equine Veterinary Internship

The Equine Specialty Hospital is offering an equine veterinary internship. We strongly believe in mentoring and encouraging our interns to become successful, confident, and competent practitioners that are well prepared for private practice or specialty residency training. We believe that hands on experience is extremely important and we provide ample opportunities for our interns to practice their skills. We approach each case as team and support the intern as they learn first-hand how to manage all aspects of veterinary medicine. The intern is always under directed or indirect supervision in order to maximize the mentorship received during the internship. At the end of the year, the intern will have gained valuable experience in surgical cases, case management, client interaction and staff relationships.

The Equine Specialty Hospital is the only referral practice in northeast Ohio with board certified surgeons serving not only Ohio but several other surrounding states. The hospital is among the best equipped facilities in the country with a full array of diagnostic modalities including MRI, nuclear scintigraphy, digital radiography, digital ultrasonography, dynamic and standing videoendoscopy, and in-house laboratory equipment. The hospital include 27 stalls, isolation facility, neonatal intensive care unit, treatment rooms, and two surgical suites. The hospital is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to optimize quality care and to facilitate the needs of our patients and clients. As a referral hospital, you will be involved and exposed to a variety of cases. The hospital sees emergencies 24x7 and appointments M-F, from 9-5.

DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary school. Internship duties include assisting specialists with hospitalized patients, appointments, emergencies, and after hours care to hospitalized patients as needed.
